Beatrix Spa
Beatrixgasse 14 / Linke Bahngasse 9, 1030 Wien
A Glorious Comeback for Those Seeking a Luxury yet Relaxed Life:
Vienna's oldest bath, the Beatrix Bath, has been awakened from its slumber and revitalized. Designed by Josef von Wieser, it opened in 1888 and served generations of Viennese for relaxation and physical culture.
During World War II, it was hit by a bomb, and since then, the bathing operations were discontinued. The lower floors still feature original facilities, such as a 20-meter pool, two brick groundwater wells, and beautiful old vaulted ceilings. These have been largely preserved. Incidentally, the revolutionary steam operation of the Beatrix Bath was also used for culinary purposes; the Heller confectionery factory operated its first candy manufacturing here. The steam-made sweets were such a success that the growing company had to relocate to the 10th district after just four years.
In August 2010, the Sans Souci Sphere discovered the property between Beatrixgasse, Linke Bahngasse, and Münzgasse, and began developing 76 apartments here in 2012, ranging from studios (35 m²) to luxurious penthouses (320 m²). Nearly all of the apartments feature spacious balconies and terraces, offering breathtaking views of Vienna, either towards the Prater and the Giant Ferris Wheel, or towards the city center, including St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Stadtpark.
