A Dormant Beauty is Brought back to Life:
Döbling is known for its splendid villas with impressive ornamental gardens, and the beautiful Villa Pick on Hartäckerstraße 18 is one of them. Originally, the building housed the first U.S. embassy, and more recently, it was owned by the Republic of Ireland. After two years of vacancy, the villa is now being carefully restored by Sans Souci Sphere.
The Villa Pick was built in 1924 according to the plans of architects Emmerich Spielmann and Alfred Teller, who were responsible for numerous representative residential and commercial buildings in Vienna. The building features both elements of the classicist Baroque style and a magnificent semicircular columned portico on the façade. The two-story property exudes a welcoming sense of spaciousness thanks to its pleasantly high ceilings. Inside, intricate details impress, recalling the grand past that is now being revived.
