Schloss Trautmannsdorf

2454 Trautmannsdorf an der Leitha

A Remarkable Piece of Austrian History is Being Revived:

Nestled in one of Austrias most scenic landscapes and home to the Neusiedler See National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site stands a majestic château that ranks among the most significant Classicist monuments in Austria. Schloss Trautmannsdorf, along with its extensive parklands, is undergoing meticulous restoration in accordance with the highest standards of heritage conservation. In the process, it is being transformed into a five-star Medical & Health Resort, complete with luxury residences

The castle was first mentioned in historical records in 1292 but was largely destroyed during the first Ottoman siege in 1529. Despite this, the core of the building still preserves structural remnants dating back to the 16th century. From the era of Empress Maria Theresa onward, the estate was owned by the Batthyány-Strattmann family. It was Philipp Batthyány who gave the castle its present form through an extensive reconstruction and expansion between 1812 and 1817. The renowned architect Josef Kornhäusl is believed to have been responsible for its design.

The surrounding 10-hectare parkland and the château itself, with its unique Biedermeier charm, will soon accommodate guest suites, restaurants, a café, and various event spaces. Additional apartments and staff residences will be developed in newly constructed pavilion-style buildings within the castle’s expansive grounds. The reforestation of the entire estate and the extensive greening of the new buildings will create an optimal microclimate.
